At Christmas, we celebrate the birth of the One—Jesus—who embodied the way back to God. He’s the same One who shows us the way through our differences and the way forward for the world.
We’ve all experienced that moment when we suddenly realize we’re lost on our way somewhere—and usually, by the time we recognize it, we’ve been lost for quite a while. There’s a direct connection between our speed and our sense of direction; often, the faster we go, the more confident and yet the more clueless we can become.
What’s true of losing our way on the road is true of losing our way in life: we’re lost before we know it. And we can’t get to where we want to be until we first acknowledge where we actually are. Into that confusion and wandering, Jesus speaks the words we most need: “I am the Way.” The way back. The way through. The way forward.
So we come to the only question that really matters: WHAT should I do? WHO will I follow? And with humble hearts we pray, “Heavenly Father, show me YOUR WILL for my life.”
